This collection contains a modern edition (punctuated, simplified characters) of 54 ‘Western Learning’ texts of the 17-18th centuries, several of them taken from facsimile editions published from 1965 up to 2002. Not included are texts already published in a modern edition (such as the Chinese writings of Matteo Ricci: Zhu Weizheng ed., 2001). The selection of texts wants to give a survey of what has been published in those two centuries: from Christian catechisms, philosophical treatises up to scientific tracts.
